Fate OR Free Will?

The eternal debate in all the Literature... Philosophical, Theological or even in Science Fiction.

“The saddest aspect of life right now is that science gathers knowledge faster than society gathers wisdom.” ... Isaac Asimov

Recently I watched "West World" a HBO TV series. Lavishly mounted, Great Acting, Music, Direction and overall production values. But ... Weak Logic and Conclusion.

The Series explores the following:
  • Are we trying to reach pinnacle of evolution by creating thinking beings?
OR Are we trying to escape a programming loop of a higher God?
  • Development of Artificial Intelligence will lead to awakening of consciousness and ultimately the new beings also will inherit the Human Flaw: A Myopic vision of future and Instinct for Self Preservation, at all costs.
  • The series has a twisted, perverted philosophy that conscience is awakened through suffering. Its not Suffering. its Love, in my opinion.
That leads me to the debate:
  • What is the purpose of evolution?
  • Is it a Benevolent, Ever-prospering society?
  • If so, does Free Will help? OR
  • Free Will may ultimately lead to chaos and destruction through self preservation instincts?
The eternal themes in all Science Fiction and Philosophical Literature:
  • What's the difference between a machine and an intelligent being?
    • Free Will
    • But with free will comes survival instinct and selfishness. This is bound to lead to strife and chaos... Ultimately destruction.
  • How to avoid Chaos?
    • Control
    • But when Ones in control starting playing God, for their own benefits rather than greater good, it again leads to Chaos and degradation of Free Will.
  • How to ensure benevolent control?
    • Rules, Dharma
    • But enforcing rules lead to compromise in Freedom. Rules create boundaries and restrict creativity.
  • What is the purpose  intelligence?
    • To support Creation
    • Searching ... "What's behind all the creation?" "How can we evolve into a virtuous, benevolent and ever prospering system?"
  • Whats the Purpose of Creation?
    • Love
    • "Love" is the primary focus. Without that Survival, Evolution and Intelligent civilisation have no meaning.
Most Philosophical debates and Literature revolve around trying to find a balance between Control and Free Will to achieve Greater Good.

I think conflicts in our mind when deciding between options also should be driven by that Greater Good: Love

Love makes the world go round!
